ecoPayz vs NETELLER vs Skrill: VIP programs
ecoPayz, Skrill (Moneybookers) as well as NETELLER both offer special premium memberships with different VIP levels.
While at NETELLER the requirements are on a yearly basis, customers at Skrill need to reach the required amount of transfers within a quarter of a year to reach and maintain the status for the next quarter.
With ecoPayz it is a bit different as their VIP System is not build on the transfer volume of a year or a month, you just need to reach the requirements once and will not loose the status after that. It is like a lifetime status.

ecoPayz vs NETELLER vs Skrill – Development
ecoPayz is part of the eWallet market since 2000, but long time they were not as well known to most customers. The main reason is a lack of availability and merchant distribution in some markets, but also that they’ve started their affiliate program only a year ago. Since those changes ecoPayz has done some great work to improve their product and to add lost of new sportsbooks, poker sites, casino sites and forex providers. Their market share has grown rapidly and it still does.
NETELLER was founded in 1996 and is owned and operated by Optimal Payments PLC (now Paysafe Group). Optimal Payments PLC has been publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange since its initial public offering in 2004 and their stocks raise over last years consistently.
Skrill was founded in 2001 under the name “Moneybookers”, took over Paysafecard in February 2013 and was re-branded to “Skrill” in March 2013. In August, Corporate venture capital (CVC) announced the acquisition of Skrill for 800 million USD.
The last half of 2012 saw NETELLER achieve a 21% increase in new member sign-ups. Skrill (Moneybookers) was able to double their memberships to more than 35 million as well as their overall transfers to 55 billion EUR within last 2 years.
Skrill and NETELLER are aiming for the US market where NETELLER has been more popular before they pulled out in 2007. Both already got their license for New Jersey and are investing many resources to get their licenses for more States very soon.
ecoPayz is also not available for US customers and as far as we know there are currently no plans for ecoPayz to start operating there.
ecoPayz vs NETELLER vs Skrill – Benefits
It is a bit hard to compare the VIP systems of all three providers as there are some main differences. Skrill (Moneybookers) and NETELLER are pretty much equal when it comes to their VIP membership and with the recent fee changes, there are even less differences between them. However, even if the ecoPayz VIP system is a bit different there are some huge benefits compared to Skrill and NETELLER.
Let’s have a look at some more details:
- Free Multilple Currency Account with very low FX fees:
Different to NETELLER and Skrill, ecoPayz customers enjoy the opportunity to use up to 45 currency accounts right after their verification while FX fees are also very low (1.25 – 2.99%) compared to NETELLER’s conditions (1.29-3.99%) and Skrill (1.99-3.99%).
- Status upgrade to highest VIP Level:
eWO clients can get upgraded to the highest VIP Level after transferring only 10,000 EUR to any merchant. For Skrill you would need to reach 90,000 EUR within one quarter and for NETELLER 2,000,000 USD in one year to get upgraded to the highest status.
- 3 free ecoPayz MasterCards:
Our clients are allowed to get 3 free ecoPayz Prepaid Mastercards (EUR, USD, GPB) with a 1,500 EUR/daily ATM limit.
- Fast and reliable support:
ecoPayz normally answers within 1 business day latest and takes care of verifications 24/7. While NETELLER and Skrill usually need longer to respond.
- Highest eWallet Cashback on the net:
With ecoPayz customers can benefit of the highest cashback program on the web (0.6% to 1%) while the cashback at NETELLER is 0.45%-1% and 0.3% for Skrill. There are also no merchants excluded from the ecoPayz bonus program. You will receive your bonus for all deposits to any merchant.
- Merchant Availability:
NETELLER has the perfect coverage and is available as a payment option at almost all poker-, casino-, forex- and sportsbook sites. ecoPayz has added lots of new merchants recently, but if you are looking for one eWallet to cover all merchants, NETELLER might be the best choice for you. However, they are just slightly ahead of Skrill as they also offer an excellent coverage.
- Support for NON-VIPs:
Since you automatically start as a VIP customer with great customer support at ecoPayz, we focus only on Skrill and NETELLER. While Skrill’s non-VIP support may take one to even two weeks to answer, NETELLER’s support handles their customers requests much faster and better. Trustpilot’s ratings of 2.5/10 for NETELLER and 4.6/10 for Skrill seem to indicate a different result, but from our longtime experience NETELLER’s support is actually better. Also Please note that this rating is based on non-VIP customer reviews. The customer satisfaction for VIP customers is much better for both providers, especially for those benefiting of the additional support by eWallet-Optimizer.com.
- Cashback for high turnover customers:
For those planning to use their eWallet heavily and are interested in earning decent cashback every month, we suggest using NETELLER where eWallet-Optimizer clients earn a monthly extra cashback of up to 1% on all qualifying transfers. For ecoPayz we offer an even better bonus program, but if your preferred merchants are not accepted at ecoPayz yet, NETELLER is the better choice for you.
- Cashback for low turnover customers:
When it comes to cashback, Skrill is not the best choice for most customers as you can earn much more with NETELLER or ecoPayz. However, if your preferred merchant does not offer ecoPayz yet or if you transfer smaller volumes, Skrill might be a great alternative. Especially with our faster VIP upgrade you can easily become a silver VIP and remove most of your fees like ATM withdrawal fees and p2p fees and you will also enjoy lower FX fees.
- Merchant availablity:
Skrill also is available at almost any merchant, Skrill offers a great market coverage.
- VIP System:
Since you automatically start as a VIP and do not loose the status with ecoPayz we focus on Skrill and NETELLER here. Skrill offers the VIP status calculation on a quarterly basis which makes it a easier for customers to get upgraded, especially with smaller volumes or for customers who cannot keep a high transfer volume through the whole year.
- Promotions & Cashback for smaller turnover:
Skrill ran several cashback promotions up to 1.5% cashback for outgoing transfers until 2013, but stopped doing so in 2014. They also stopped the Skrill Loyalty Club for their VIP customers in 2016 and currently there is no cashback paid directly by Skrill. However, by creating your new account with us you can still enjoy a $15 sign up bonus and 1% cashback for 30days to become Skrill VIP faster and of course our monthly bonus in addition.
