Skrill Bitcoin: Deposit, Buy and Send

Skrill and Bitcoin: buy crypto inside your account, deposit with BitPay or send coins to your own wallet. Fees, countries and steps from Skrill's help.

Updated on

You can buy and sell Bitcoin right in your Skrill account, as long as your country is on Skrill’s list. Depositing Bitcoin from an outside wallet into Skrill is not possible. BitPay is the workaround: you pay with crypto and get fiat balance. If you prefer a broker, Bitpanda is one option.

This guide follows Skrill’s help pages as of 23 October 2026. It is not investment advice and does not say whether Bitcoin suits you. Skrill itself warns: only invest money you can afford to lose entirely.

Can I deposit Bitcoin into Skrill?

Not as a coin. According to Skrill’s help, Skrill doesn’t yet accept crypto deposits from external wallets. You also can’t pay online with crypto held in Skrill.

BitPay works differently: in Skrill you pick BitPay under Deposit, enter currency and amount and get redirected to BitPay. You have 15 minutes to pay from your wallet. Skrill credits fiat balance, not Bitcoin. Details from Skrill’s BitPay guide:

ItemAccording to Skrill
CoinsBitcoin (BTC) on the Bitcoin network, Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) on ERC-20 only
Tethernot available in EEA countries
Fee2.00% in the fee table, plus a network fee
Timea few minutes up to 1 hour
Requirementfully verified account

Pay exactly the amount on the BitPay invoice. Deposits that don’t match an invoice cannot be recovered.

How do I buy Bitcoin with Skrill?

There are two routes.

Directly in Skrill. Open the Crypto section of your account, go to the Trade tab and choose Buy with Instant order. Enter the coin and amount, then check fee, rate and total cost before you confirm. Skrill’s crypto page mentions 40+ coins, and trading pairs depend on your country. The minimum is roughly €1 and can differ by coin.

Through a broker. Bitpanda is a Vienna-based broker with a MiCA licence. You verify there, deposit and buy Bitcoin in your own account. Bitpanda shows the payment methods for your country when you deposit. More on our Bitpanda page.

What does buying cost?

Skrill shows the fee on the summary before you confirm. Two things are certain:

  • The buy price is usually above the sell price (the spread). Your portfolio can show a small loss right after buying.
  • If your main account currency is not EUR or USD, Skrill’s fee page adds 1.5% currency conversion to crypto transactions.

More fees and the VIP tiers are on our Skrill page.

Which countries are covered?

Skrill lists 79 countries. Not every feature works everywhere:

FeaturesCountries (selection)
Trade, withdraw to wallet, BitPay, On-RampGermany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland and more EU countries
Trade and withdrawSwitzerland, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Brazil
Trade onlyUkraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Serbia, Israel, Mexico

The US is not on the list and has its own Skrill site. Skrill says the list is not exhaustive and can change.

How do I send Bitcoin from Skrill to my wallet?

Your account must be fully verified. Then follow Skrill’s guide:

  1. Under Withdraw, choose Crypto wallet.
  2. Pick the fiat balance, coin and network, then enter the amount.
  3. Enter the wallet address and say whether the wallet is held with a provider or only by you. Add a destination tag if required.
  4. Review the summary and confirm, possibly with your 6-digit PIN.

The network fee comes off the amount, so you receive slightly less. Transfers usually arrive in 5 to 60 minutes and occasionally stay pending for up to 24 hours. Check address and tag twice: blockchain transfers are final.

How do I sell Bitcoin?

In your Skrill account, selling works like buying, with Sell with Instant order. The fiat balance then sits in your Skrill account. At Bitpanda you sell in the broker account. Bitpanda shows which payout routes apply to your country.

What do you get through eWO?

Via eWO you get a monthly bonus on merchant deposits at Skrill, Silver VIP from €5,000 instead of €15,000, plus the extra Bronze Pro tier. As an eWO client, verification usually takes one business day and needs no deposit. At Bitpanda, eWO gives you a starter bonus after verification. All numbers are on the provider pages.
