Skrill or Neteller account blocked? What to do

Why Skrill and Neteller block accounts, how to avoid it and how to get access to your account and money again.

Skrill and Neteller keep a close eye on accounts. Most blocks are temporary and easy to avoid.

Common reasons

  • Logging in through a VPN, proxy or anonymiser
  • Logging in from a country the provider doesn’t serve
  • Wrong password or 2FA code entered several times
  • Unusual amounts or an unusual number of transactions
  • More than one account per person
  • Wrong name or address, or edited documents
  • Deposits or withdrawals with a card or bank account in someone else’s name

How to avoid it

  • Don’t use a VPN, and never share your login details.
  • Travelling? Tell support before you log in from abroad.
  • Only one account per person. A second currency account is allowed with VIP status, see second currency accounts.
  • Turn on two-step authentication and use a strong password.

Website won’t open?

That’s hardly ever a block. After too many requests the provider blocks your IP address for a few hours. Wait, then try again. Real account issues always come by email.

Account blocked: what now?

  1. Check your email: the provider usually explains there what to do.
  2. No email? Contact Skrill or Neteller support.
  3. Temporary block: once the issue is resolved, you’ll have full access to your money again.
  4. Closed for good: support decides whether to pay out your balance, usually only to a bank account in your name.

Don’t open a new account. If your account was closed, you’re not allowed to create another one.
